Bhayshul Tuten Dynasty Fantasy Football Value: Hold or Sell Breakout RB Candidate?

Sam Wallace breaks down how to handle the hype surrounding Jags' second-year RB Bhayshul Tuten.

One of the buzziest names in fantasy football right now is second-year RB Bhayshul Tuten. Selected by the Jaguars in Round 4 of the 2025 NFL Draft, he made dynasty managers everywhere lose their minds when he absolutely torched the NFL Combine:

  • 4.32 40-yard dash (100th percentile)
  • 118.3 Speed Score (98th percentile)
  • 133.9 Burst Score (97th percentile)

Tuten came in as the RB5 in our Rookie RB Model, right between Quinshon Judkins and Cam Skattebo. For broader context, Tuten's model score of 73 puts him in historical company with guys like De'Von Achane, Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet.

All things considered, that's a pretty solid cohort to be a part of.

In a vacuum, his rookie season was a disappointment, but it's important to remember the broader context. Last season, Travis Etienne played in all 17 games and finished with 260 rushing attempts for more than 1,100 rushing yards. There simply wasn't enough of an opportunity for Tuten to make a significant impact.

That is all about to change heading into the 2026 season … or so we hope.

Etienne is now with the Saints, which has paved the way for Tuten to assume lead-back duties for the Jaguars. Following Etienne's departure, the Jags signed Chris Rodriguez, who spent his first three seasons with the Commanders. At first, it might not seem like Rodriguez would pose much of a threat to Tuten, but dynasty managers might want to pump the brakes a bit.

Rodriguez has appeared in 13, 9 and 13 games over his three seasons, respectively. While he's never held a true lead-back role, he's been exceptional as a 1B/No. 2 option. In his career, he's averaging 4.6 yards per carry on nearly 200 rushing attempts. He offers essentially nothing in the passing game (six career receptions), but he has the profile to significantly annoy Tuten managers.

In fact, while our current fantasy football projections show that this backfield does belong to Tuten, Rodriguez is slated to carve out a meaningful role for himself.

As of this writing, the general dynasty consensus has Tuten as the low-end RB2 (RB23), and I'm fine with that. The offseason buzz and conversation always seems to inflate the value of certain players each summer, and I was beginning to get worried that the same would happen to Tuten.

For comparison, Tuten is actually down at RB25 on Underdog for single-season leagues. I'm impressed, fantasy community—Nice work not letting the hype train send Tuten rocketing up the draft boards.

So, what does this mean for you as a dynasty fantasy football manager?

Should You Buy, Sell or Hold Bhayshul Tuten In Dynasty?

Right now, Tuten is a firm hold/sell candidate for me. He's a hold if I have him on a solid, competing roster since he'll certainly be startable this season. However, if there's someone in your league who is all-in on the hype and views him as a lock for RB1 (top-12) production, you have an opportunity to capitalize on offseason speculation.

I don't generally prescribe selling players high and accumulating future value just because. The goal is still to win fantasy championships, and Tuten is in a prime spot to help you do that. At the same time, Tuten is far from a perfect prospect, and, on our end, projects to finish as the RB23 this season with just over 800 rushing yards.

Like anything else, there's no need to overreact. If you roster him and are unsure of what to do, you're fine just holding him. No need to galaxy-brain your way to a trade you'll end up regretting in the future.
